CONWAY, SC – Children of all ages are invited to nominate their dads for the 3rd annual “Father of the Year” contest.
The contest is hosted by A Father’s Place, the area’s only non-profit agency solely focused on serving the unique needs of fathers and families in Horry, Georgetown, Marion and Williamsburg counties.
Dr. Winston McIver of Conway was named “Father of the Year” in 2019 and Adrian Grate, Sr., of Pawleys Island, received the honors in 2020.
The winner is feted at the A Father’s Place “Building Futures Awards Banquet & Fundraiser” and receives a trophy and a special prize basket featuring tickets and gift certificates to area family fun activities. The upcoming Building Futures event, sponsored by Palmetto Infusion, will be held on Thursday, Feb. 25, 2021.
Nominations are due by October 23, 2020 and can be made by visiting the agency’s website at www.afathersplace.com and completing a simple online questionnaire.
“Just tell us from your heart, in your own words, what makes the dad you are nominating an outstanding father role model,” says Lyn Rumage, Regional Director of Development for A Father’s Place. “We have had so many terrific entries since we started this. The nominations just make us smile. It’s rarely one quality that is written about; it’s usually a lot of different traits and little stories that together paint a picture of someone who is a true Fatherhood role model every day in every way.”

“Father of the Year” Rules
A winning entry will be selected from all eligible entries on or Friday, October 23, 2020. The Winner of the A Father’s Place "Father of the Year" contest (the nominee who is the subject of the winning entry) will be notified by phone, mail and/or email. The person who submitted the winning nomination will also be notified by phone, mail and/or email. All decisions by A Father’s Place are final. By participating, each entrant accepts these rules. Submission of an entry and/or acceptance of the “Father of the Year” award grants A Father’s Place the exclusive, perpetual right to publish, use, edit, adapt, modify, excerpt and/or copy the entry for any and all purposes in any and all media currently in existence or hereafter invented without further permission or any compensation to the entrant.
As a condition of receiving the award, nominated Father must agree to: attend the A Father’s Place Building Futures Awards banquet on Thursday, February 25, 2020 in North Myrtle Beach; be interviewed by the media; and appear in photos and social media/marketing materials with the person who nominated him. Other terms, conditions and restrictions may apply. In the event the winning Dad nominee declines the award or any terms, conditions and/or restrictions associated with the award, A Father’s Place reserves the right to disqualify the nominee and to award the nominee of the next best entry.
Other Conditions: Return of any prize notification as undeliverable will result in disqualification and selection of an alternate winner and an alternate "Father of the Year" Dad award recipient (which will be the nominee of the next best entry). No substitution or transfer of prizes/awards by winner/award recipient. By entering and/or by accepting this award, you agree to be bound by these rules and to release A Father’s Place from any and all liability arising out of your participation in this Contest.
