Information we collect
We collect information you give us and limited information our site collects automatically.
- Contact and intake details: name, email, phone number, mailing address, county, and information you submit on a contact, enrollment, event, or newsletter form.
- Program information: employment, education, family, child-support, and related details you provide so we can deliver fatherhood services. We collect only what we need for that purpose.
- Donation information: gift amount, date, and billing details needed to process the gift. Card numbers are handled by our payment processor, [processor name], not stored on our servers.
- Text-message information: mobile number, opt-in method, date and time of consent, and message preferences.
- Automatic data: IP address, browser type, device type, and pages visited, through [Google Analytics / site host]. The contact form uses Google reCAPTCHA, which is subject to Google’s privacy policy and terms.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through the website. Youth program information is collected from a parent, guardian, or referring agency.
How we use it
We use personal information to respond to you, enroll and serve fathers, schedule peer groups and workshops, send program updates you requested, process donations and receipts, send text messages you opted into, improve the website, meet grant and legal reporting duties, and protect against fraud.
We do not sell or rent personal information.
Text messaging
If you opt in to texts from A Father’s Place, we use your mobile number only to send the messages you agreed to receive. Consent to texts is not a condition of receiving services or of making a donation. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply.
Reply STOP to cancel. Reply HELP for help. After you opt out, we send one confirmation and then stop. Opting out of texts does not remove you from program services.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All the categories above exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties. We share mobile opt-in data only with our texting vendor, Ultatel, so it can deliver messages, and when the law requires it. We do not sell, rent, or transfer text consent to another organization.
Program terms are at [link to terms page].
Donations
A Father’s Place is a 501(c)(3) public charity. Gifts are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. We do not provide goods or services in exchange for a donation unless the receipt says so. Undesignated gifts support general programs at the board’s discretion. A gift restricted to a named campaign is used for that purpose unless the campaign is completed, discontinued, or overfunded, in which case remaining funds may be used for a similar purpose.
Online gifts are processed by [processor name]. That vendor receives the information needed to complete the transaction. Refunds are limited to duplicate charges, processing errors, and unauthorized transactions reported within 30 days. A completed gift is otherwise not refundable.
Who we share information with
We share information only as follows:
- South Carolina Center for Fathers and Families, for program support, training, data reporting, and network administration.
- Service providers who work for us under confidentiality terms, including our website host, email provider, texting vendor, and donation processor.
- Funders and public partners, including the South Carolina Department of Social Services where a grant or referral requires it, in aggregate where possible and with identifying detail only when required.
- Legal or safety disclosures when required by law, court order, or to prevent harm.
We do not share the fact that someone participates in our programs with employers, family members, or other third parties except as the participant directs, as a referral requires, or as the law requires.
Your choices
You may ask us to see the personal information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop future email. Email info@afathersplace.org or call (843) 488-2923. We will not use deletion to avoid a legal record we must keep, such as a donation receipt.
To stop texts, reply STOP. To leave the email list, use the unsubscribe link or contact us.
Security and retention
We use HTTPS on the website and limit access to staff who need the information for their work. No method of transmission is perfectly secure. We keep program and donation records for as long as the service, grant, or tax rule requires, and text opt-in records for at least four years after the last message.
Changes
We will post updates on this page and change the effective date. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
