A Father’s Place wants the experts to weigh in on what makes a great dad. Local sons and daughters of any age are invited to nominate their dad for A Father’s Place 2020 “Father of The Year” award.
Nominees must be fathers – biological, adoptive, foster or step. The A Father’s Place staff and board wants to know what makes him your hero. Can he make sense out of algebra or bring history to life? Does he coach sports or is he you and your friends’ loudest cheerleader at every game? Does he have a love of reading that he shares with you? Does he tell dad jokes, have an infectious laugh, cook the best breakfasts, make up silly games? Is he always, always there for you, no matter what? Is he active in your school, church and/or community? Does he believe strongly that he (and you) should always do your best to help others? What is the greatest lesson he’s taught you? Did he chaperone all of your grade school trips or work a second job to pay your college tuition?
“It might be all of these things or a zillion others that make him special,” says Lyn Rumage, Director of Development for A Father’s Place. “Just tell us from your heart, in your own words, what makes the dad you are nominating an outstanding father role model.”
The winning dad will be honored at the A Father’s Place 2nd Annual Building Futures Awards banquet on February 27, 2020. in North Myrtle Beach. The winner will receive complimentary tickets to the event, as well as a prize package featuring tickets and gift certificates to area family fun activities.
